On 31.01.2020, based on information one Indian male pax arrived from Bangkok by Thai Air flight TG-337, was intercepted at exit. On examination of his checked-in baggage it was found to have concealed mammals, reptiles , rodents and insects in plastic baskets and Cotton Tiffin box along with his personal effects. Officers of WCCB identified species as 1. Meerkats (Native to Kalahari desert and Angola)- Two nos, 2. Fat tail Gerbil ( Native to northern Sahara) -Four nos, 3. Sphynx Rat(Native to Africa)- one no, 4. Albinopacman frog (Native to South America) - one no. 5. Tarantula Spider (Native to Africa) - Three nos. 6. Chamaeleon Species ( Native to Africa) - One no. 7. Green Iguana( Native to Northern Mexico) - One no. Thus, totally 13 exotic wild life species were recovered and the same were seized under CA 1962 and FT(D/R) act. The pax has been detained. All the species will be deported back to Bangkok as recommended by animal quarantine.
