11.68 kg of Opium valued @ ₹2.33 crore & 4.78 kg of Pseudoephedrine valued @ ₹ 7 lakhs totally valued at ₹ 2.4 crore seized by Chennai Air Customs Courier Intelligence

Based on information 11.68 kg of Opium valued @ ₹2.33 crore & 4.78 kg of Pseudoephedrine valued @ ₹ 7 lakhs totally valued at ₹ 2.4 crore seized by  Chennai Air Customs Courier Intelligence, in two cases in a courier warehouse in city. One person was Arrested.

 

  1. On 20.2.2020 a parcel which was declared to contain jeera goli(cumin candy) destined for Australia was detained. On examination 24 packets were found inside.On opening small dark brown golis were found with  peculiar smell. On  testing with narcotics kit it prima facie tested positive for Opium. Total 11.68 kg of jeera candy golis suspected to be opium  valued at ₹ 2.33 crores were seized under NDPS Act.  Searches were carried out and the consignor was arrested.

 

  1. On 19.2.2020 a parcel which was declared to contain sarees and other garments destined for Australia was detained. On opening parcel 8 sarees and other garments were found. The sarees were wrapped on two cardboard sheets which appeared to be unusually heavy. On cut opening the cardboard sheet, a white crystalline powder was found concealed inside it. The powder was tested with narcotics  kit and it tested positive for Pseudo ephedrine. Total 4.78 kg of white crystalline powder suspected to be Pseudoephedrine  valued at Rs. 7 lakhs was recovered from 16 card boards and same was seized under NDPS Act. Seraches were carried to catch consignor but addresses were fake.
